Had a great time and completely stumped as to how we got our favorite and least favorites mixed up - I actually think the Yellow Tail we tasted hadn't warmed up/breathed, which is why it tasted so bad to begin with (chemical), but so good for the blind tasting. Oh well, still preferred the Frenchies over all...

(Posted on 2007-10-28 11:06:00 by )Eddie came along and helped me to select 8 wines. We chose two from four regions: Spain, the Antipodes, Italy and France; and we chose one mid-priced (£5.50-£6.50) and one higher priced (£8-£9) wine from each. We bought 3 bottles of each = 24 bottles.
17 guests tried the wines with the labels visible making notes on the four aspects of the wine: appearance, bouquet, initial taste and finish. We kept back 1 bottle of each type and disguised it with a letter (A-H). Once everyone was suitably drunk, we tried to match numbers to letters without cheating. Didn't we Jason?
Special thanks to Simon for these babies. Who'd have thought he'd have such a lovely way with the pumpkins? What a cava...
